What is subtitling?

Subtitling is a written translation of on-screen dialogue, usually shown at the bottom of the screen. Professionally prepared subtitles are rarely noticed by the viewer; however, poorly produced ones are a good way to make any viewer switch off.

Types of subtitling

At Tembua® we provide two types of subtitling: Intralingual subtitling (also known as captioning), which is primarily aimed at the deaf and hard of hearing but also extremely useful for people learning a foreign language, and interlingual subtitling, the spoken or written message of the original product, which is translated into the language of the target audience.
